viewer)<\/li><\/ol><p>Most professional development focuses only on #1, The Sender role.\u00a0 That is <em>the event approach<\/em>.\u00a0 It operates on a false assumption:\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>All communication you SEND is fully RECEIVED\u00a0 and understood.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>We don&#8217;t need an elaborate clinical study to invalidate the <em>event approach <\/em>assumption<em>.\u00a0<\/em> We witness miscommunication countless times every day.\u00a0 Yet we somehow hang on to this false assumption, to the detriment of being effective with our communication.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>What if you placed as much emphasis on your role as The Receiver of communication as you do with your Sender acronyms\u00a0<\/li><li>You never read my email!<\/li><li>I didn&#8217;t receive your email<\/li><li>I mentioned that in our 90 minute meeting.<\/li><li>I assumed everyone understood.<\/li><li>No one
