Although I&#8217;m arriving late to that party, here&#8217;s a new wrinkle.\u00a0 Since the 80s, there&#8217;s a new item to our <em>don&#8217;t-leave-home-without-it list<\/em>:\u00a0 Your cell phone (or smart phone) has joined the list of common daily essentials:<\/p><ul><li>Wallet\/Driver&#8217;s license\/Credit Cards<\/li><li>Keys<\/li><li>Medication<\/li><li>Wedding band and\/or wrist watch<\/li><li>Eye glasses<\/li><li>Cell Phone or Smart Phone<\/li><\/ul><p>These are the tangible items.\u00a0 But we rarely think about&#8230;<\/p><h3>The Intangible Essentials<\/h3><p>May I suggest that there are some other lesser known or valued essentials that are equally important to your chances of making your day a success?\u00a0 I&#8217;m thinking of the <strong>3 C&#8217;s of Success. <\/strong>They are:<\/p><ol><li>Clarity<\/li><li>Confidence<\/li><li>Commitment<\/li><\/ol><p>If you leave home without these essentials, your likelihood for success is significantly reduced. Seems simple, but it&#8217;s not as easy as 1-2-3.\u00a0 Most of us struggle with these.\u00a0 So let&#8217;s briefly examine each element with some time tested wisdom.<\/p><h3>1. Clarity<\/h3><blockquote><p><em><strong>&#8220;If you don&#8217;t know where you&#8217;re going, any road will take you there.&#8221;<\/strong> <\/em>&#8211; Lewis Carrol<\/p><\/blockquote><p>&#8230;but it will be a long and frustrating journey.<\/p><h3>2. Confidence<\/h3><blockquote><p><em><strong>&#8220;Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you&#8217;re right&#8221;.<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; Henry Ford<\/p><\/blockquote><p>What are those little voices in your head telling you about what <strong>is<\/strong> and <strong>isn&#8217;t<\/strong> possible?<\/p><h3>3. Commitment<\/h3><blockquote><p><em><strong>\u201cYour attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 <em>&#8211; Zig Ziglar<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote><p>Are you pursuing something that is &#8220;<strong>nice to have<\/strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>must have<\/strong>&#8220;?\u00a0 If you say you <em>must have it<\/em>, do your actions match your words?<\/p><h3>When You Leave Home<\/h3><p><a href=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/AmSuccessCard.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"margin-left: 9px; margin-right: 9px;\" title=\"SuccessCard\" src=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/AmSuccessCard-300x186.jpg\" alt=\"Success Card\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a>As you start to pull out of your driveway and realize you&#8217;ve left your phone behind, what do you do?\u00a0\u00a0 What if you developed that same level of importance for the equally essential 3 C&#8217;s?<\/p><p>Your cell phone, keys, drivers license and credit card are all tangibles.
