shining by your back door and visualize how it is surrounded by a cloud of swarming\u00a0 moths.\u00a0 Not being a moth myself, I&#8217;ve never understood the appeal.\u00a0 They seem magnetically attracted to illumination even at the risk of getting burned or zapped to death.\u00a0\u00a0 I mention moths as a metaphor because when it comes to fads and trends, there are some people who behave like moths as they flock to the next newest thing with little reasoning or purpose.\u00a0 In the world of e-communication, Social Media remains the latest and greatest illuminating light.\u00a0 We&#8217;re witnessing moth-like swarms all around it.\u00a0 While behaving like a moth with social media may not get you killed, we continue to see people getting burned both personally and professionally.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element of social media experts today includes an average of three years experience.\u00a0 After attending over a dozen social media seminars and tinkering with all of the tools for the past over three years myself, I&#8217;m compelled to chime in for the purpose of helping you to rise above <em>The Moth Effect<\/em>. While I do not claim be a social media expert, I am a consummate student of what I call the <em>Laws of Business Physics<\/em>.\u00a0 These are laws that, when violated, will damage your business&#8217;s profitability and longevity.\u00a0 To avoid becoming a social media moth, here are some laws of Business Physics that, when applied, can help you avoid getting burned.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ad10fb4 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ad10fb4\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0a0e9e3\" data-id=\"0a0e9e3\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e56e0a8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e56e0a8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Proper Planning Prevents Pitifully Poor Performance<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-281d4f8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"281d4f8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This starts by applying some basic elements of strategic thinking and planning. Considering that social networks are communication media, ask yourself:<\/p><ul><li>What does my brand stand for?\u00a0 What is our brand promise?<\/li><li>Who is our audience?\u00a0 What is the best way to reach them?<\/li><li>What is our message to that audience?\u00a0 How can we use social media to support our message?<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Avoid the &#8220;Ready &gt; Fire &gt; Aim&#8221; approach. It&#8217;s too easy to shoot yourself in the foot.\u00a0 <strong>Remember, it is impossible to serve your purpose if you don&#8217;t have one.<\/strong> Or as Lewis Carrol wrote:\u00a0 &#8220;If you don&#8217;t know where you&#8217;re going any road will take you there.&#8221;\u00a0 But it will be a long and frustrating journey.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2854298 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2854298\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Just Because You Can, Doesn't Mean You or mowed the lawn.\u00a0 I quickly de-friend those who repeatedly do this on Facebook.\u00a0 And those who try it in LinkedIn might receive an admonishing message from me for <em>urinating in my pool<\/em> before I disconnect.\u00a0 I try to guide the moths when I can. \u00a0 If you follow the aforementioned rule about proper planning and have done that homework, you can then ask yourself this critical question before each status update or tweet:<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Is what I am about to share with the world going to enhance or diminish my
