beneficiary of exceptional hospitality from a friend of a my son&#8217;s who went beyond the call in hosting us in his home as we enjoyed a mountain getaway in Utah.\u00a0 To acknowledge and partially reciprocate, I sent a &#8220;really big&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tastesofchicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Pizza Gift Pack<\/a> to our host.\u00a0 It took over a month before our host acknowledged the gesture.\u00a0 Why the delay? It was <em>Big Salad Event.<\/em>\u00a0 Our host <em>assumed<\/em> the food came from the house guests who arrived the following week.\u00a0 And it took a while for those <em>other<\/em> house guests to eventually deflect his gratitude and admit they were not the senders.<\/p><p>Since we all have <em>Big Salad Event<\/em>s when others improperly receive credit for our efforts, I invite you to revisit George Costanza&#8217;s rant triggered by his obsessive need for recognition and his frustration with the injustice of someone else taking his credit for &#8220;<em>The Big Salad<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-efd7b74 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"efd7b74\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-ecf4fd6\" data-id=\"ecf4fd6\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d4fab96 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d4fab96\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Pursuit of the Limelight<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa9ee32 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fa9ee32\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>As you seek to advance your career, gaining recognition for your achievements from your customers, peers and superiors is helpful for climbing the corporate ladder.\u00a0 And you&#8217;re likely to be frustrated by some &#8220;Big Salad&#8221; episodes of your own as others try to steal your thunder. All of the eleven Good To Great companies were led by CEOs who were quick to deflect recognition toward others in their company.\u00a0 All of Jim Collins&#8217; Level 5 Leaders possessed a\u00a0 Personal Humility:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-06c64d0 elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-widget
