caricature image on the right to enhance my personal branding.\u00a0 Now that I&#8217;ve had years of fun with this, I&#8217;m wondering:\n<h4><strong><em>Is it too much of a fun thing?\n<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<h3>Premature Evacuation?<\/h3>\nIt is all too easy for us to forget:\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Marketers Tire of Their Message Long Before Their Audience<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nAll too often they prematurely trash a really effective message for the wrong reason: their own boredom.\u00a0 My impatient clients have always been grateful when I&#8217;ve shared this reminder.\u00a0 Should I heed these words myself and err on the side of caution?\n\nIn the old days of network TV summer re-runs, NBC had a great slogan to promote summer viewership:\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>If you haven&#8217;t seen it before, it&#8217;s NEW to YOU!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nSo powerfully perfect!\u00a0 Yet, there is another time-tested axiom to apply.\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>You never get a second chance to make a first impression.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nFor some, the caricature <strong>IS<\/strong> the first impression.\u00a0 Does it properly serve its purpose?\u00a0 Hence&#8230;\n<h3>The Quandary<\/h3>\nI typically have a good time where ever I go.\u00a0 I truly love my work. Plus, I have a skill for enhancing discussions by injecting appropriate humor (as seen in this site and verbally).\u00a0 The caricature serves to convey that I<strong><em> don&#8217;t<\/em><\/strong> take myself too seriously.\n\n<strong>BUT,<\/strong> does it also imply that I<strong> don&#8217;t<\/strong> take <strong>my work<\/strong> seriously?\u00a0 Does it lead the more compliant folks (i.e. corporate HR) in my audience to wonder: Is this guy too &#8220;<em>out there<\/em>&#8220;?\u00a0 Is he a risky hire?\n<h3>When In Rome&#8230;<\/h3>\nMy coaching clientele includes a growing number of executives from the <strong><em>Fortune 1,000<\/em><\/strong> and other leaders who work in that world.\u00a0 I love working with corporate America&#8217;s best and brightest.\u00a0 Plus, they typically\u00a0have budgets for our services.\u00a0 Have our large corporate clients engaged <strong><em>despite<\/em> <\/strong>the caricature rather than <strong><em>because<\/em> <\/strong>of it?\u00a0 Or they may have missed it since it is not on <a href=\"http:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/about\/executive-coaches\/executive-coach-tom-lemanski\/\">my bio page<\/a>.\n\nIf you&#8217;re wondering about the caricature&#8217;s origin, <a title=\"Tom\u2019s Caricature Story\" href=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/toms-caricature-story\/\"><strong>this video<\/strong> <\/a>tells the story.\n<h3>Time to Move On?<\/h3>\nI&#8217;ve received qualified feedback on both sides of the <strong>dump it<\/strong> vs. <strong>keep it<\/strong> argument.
