is: <strong>My role has stringent, encumbering boundaries that prevent my ongoing growth and development.<\/strong><\/p><p><span class=\"commentary\">What if we instead asked: <strong>What opportunities are there for me to <em>expand<\/em> my role?<\/strong> <\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"commentary\">In almost any job, we notice things falling through the cracks or potential projects being pushed to the back burner.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p><p><strong><span class=\"commentary\">What if you took more initiative to discover areas of improvement and act on them? <\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span class=\"commentary\">Why do workers succumb to apparent limitations in their job descriptions? Just because your job description doesn&#8217;t mention it, does not mean you shouldn&#8217;t or can&#8217;t take action and find a better way. <\/span><\/p><h3>Who&#8217;s Responsible for Building Your Reputation?<\/h3><p>The poster states two <strong>assumptions<\/strong> for negatives of staying too long in a job:<\/p><ol><li><span class=\"commentary\">Not considered ambitious enough<\/span><\/li><li><span class=\"commentary\">Not adaptable enough for a new role <\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span class=\"commentary\">What if you overcame the artificial boundaries of your job description and became known as a <strong>proactive problem solver<\/strong>?\u00a0 Would those two assumptions really true?\u00a0 You just have to be <em>ambitious enough<\/em> to expand your\u00a0 role.\u00a0 Who&#8217;s responsible for your level of ambition?\u00a0 Perhaps your boss is.\u00a0 But if you wait for that to happen, what happens to your career?<br \/><\/span><\/p><h3>The Leadership Challenge for Workers:\u00a0 Lead from Where You Stand<\/h3><p><span class=\"commentary\">Should you wait for assignments to be handed to you?
