\u00a0We make an educated guess and perform\u00a0<strong><em>activities<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>related to the\u00a0job title or to a past job. \u00a0It\u2019s so easy to fall into the trap of\u00a0adopting the limiting belief that staying busy\u00a0and working\u00a0hard are your Job Currency. \u00a0Armed with that belief, we do things like:<\/p><ul><li>Arrive Early \/ \u00a0Stay Late \u00a0\u2013 whether you need to or not<\/li><li>Regularly Fight Fires<\/li><li>Surf the web, moving around and CC-ing colleagues on emails: for the primary purpose of looking busy or active<\/li><\/ul><p>Are there certain\u00a0attributes or behaviors that the boss or management in general values and praises?<\/p><p>These\u00a0<strong>activities<\/strong>\u00a0can be the result of the belief that\u00a0<strong><em>effort or style<\/em>\u00a0is your job currency<\/strong>. \u00a0Your effort may be recognized and complimented. \u00a0 When effort for the sake of\u00a0effort is rewarded, it\u00a0gets\u00a0repeated and even intensified. But when it\u2019s time for a salary review, these efforts are typically rewarded with the standard 2% increase.<\/p><p>This is what happens when you\u2019re unaware of your real\u00a0<strong>job currency<\/strong>. \u00a0It\u2019s NOT about\u00a0<strong><em>activity<\/em><\/strong>. It\u2019s not really\u00a0about\u00a0<strong><em>style<\/em><\/strong>.
