Tools<\/h2><p>We \u00a0have thousands of smart phone apps that promise to make our lives easier. When\u00a0you find one that works for you and actually delivers on that promise, go for it. \u00a0Implementation take time and effort. \u00a0There&#8217;s typically a lot of trial and error before new app usage becomes part of your routine.<\/p><p>Personally, I love being able to use Siri to dictate and book\u00a0my appointments to my e-calendar. (more on that). \u00a0I&#8217;m doing more with Google Drive. and\u00a0Evernote. \u00a0This site and all of my others are powered by WordPress. \u00a0All are worth my investment in\u00a0trial and error.<\/p><h2>Appreciating Low Tech Tools<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-6237\" src=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/pen-paoer-131x150.jpg\" alt=\"Pen &amp; Paper\" width=\"131\" height=\"150\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/pen-paoer-131x150.jpg 131w, https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/pen-paoer.jpg 202w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 131px) 100vw, 131px\" \/>Going paperless at the expense of effectiveness is a deal breaker for me. \u00a0I have no guilt attached to writing things down on my trusty letter-sized legal pad. \u00a0The fast growing trees used to produce my pad&#8217;s pulp and paper are renewable resources.<\/p><p>I rely on my pen and paper to capture and expand my most important thoughts and ideas. \u00a0If I don&#8217;t, they can be lost forever. \u00a0For situations when carrying a legal pad around\u00a0isn&#8217;t practical, I store 5 x 7 note cards in all of my coat pockets.<\/p><p>In the words of the late author and Personal Development Pioneer Paul J. Meyer&#8230;<\/p><blockquote><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>&#8220;Writing crystallizes thought and thought produces action.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><p>I couldn&#8217;t agree more. \u00a0If you are a subscriber\u00a0for\u00a0this site, you know that\u00a0the thoughts shared here are designed to produce actions. Do you consider yourself a person of action? \u00a0How often do you generate thoughts through writing?<\/p><h2>When Opportunity Knocks<\/h2><p>Write it down. All too often we live by the false notion that our memories are photographic. When it comes to total recall, you&#8217;re never as retentive as you hoped. While considering the environmental impact of using paper, you should also remember:<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>While there is a cost to using paper, the opportunities you capture\u00a0are potentially priceless.<\/strong><\/p><h2>A Form of Flattery<\/h2><p>When you take notes in the presence of others, you demonstrate your belief\u00a0in the value of what they have to say.
