a critical component for building a competitive edge and solving problems and challenges along the way.<br \/>As we pursue innovation, we seek attributes like\u00a0<em>creativity<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>thinking outside-the-box<\/em>. If only leading innovation was as simple as gathering groups of creatives and letting them brainstorm. \u00a0 The reality is that\u00a0working with creatives and outside the box thinkers can be like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/herding-cats\/\">herding cats<\/a>.<br \/>I believe that when you\u2019re herding your creative cats, it helps to clarify and communicate\u00a0<strong><em>what\u2019s valuable.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0That starts by clarifying\u00a0definitions and parameters. For every successful creative business person, there are many more\u00a0smart, creative folks who have floundered.\u00a0John Wooden, the Legendary College Basketball Coach \u00a0(<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wisdom_from_the_wizard_of_westwood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">more<\/a><\/strong>) has this advice.<\/p><blockquote><p>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cNever mistake activity for achievement\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p>This is a potential trap of\u00a0<strong><em>creativity for the sake of
