most common truth I find is:<\/p><blockquote><h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Miscommunication is at the root of all dysfunction.&#8221;<\/h4><p style=\"text-align: right;\">&#8211; Tom Lemanski<\/p><\/blockquote><p>It&#8217;s universally\u00a0indisputable. And, universally\u00a0frustrating and expensive. It&#8217;s equally true with our personal interactions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-2cd383bd elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"2cd383bd\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-20bdaf98\" data-id=\"20bdaf98\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-62e5ec6b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"62e5ec6b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>So I must ask:<\/p><h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">What are\u00a0you and\/or your organization doing to address miscommunication?<\/h4><p>If you don&#8217;t,\u00a0how much more dysfunction will occur? \u00a0And at what emotional and financial cost?<\/p><h2>Miscommunication: The\u00a0Bad News then\u00a0The\u00a0Good News<\/h2><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6567 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/no-silverbullet2-150x142.png\" alt=\"No Silver Bullet\" width=\"150\" height=\"142\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/no-silverbullet2-150x142.png 150w, https:\/\/chicagoexecutivecoaching.com\/smartleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/no-silverbullet2.png 212w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>My quote above is\u00a0<em>simple<\/em> statement summarizing a\u00a0complex problem that we all experience. The bad news is there is no <strong>silver bullet<\/strong> for\u00a0resolving miscommunication. \u00a0Everyone involved in miscommunication is part of the problem. \u00a0The good news is there are\u00a0an abundance of opportunities to be <strong>part of the\u00a0solution<\/strong>. \u00a0And you can make a contribution and lead by example no matter where you are in the org chart. Assuming you&#8217;re ready to stop being part of the problem and contribute to the solution,\u00a0let&#8217;s look at&#8230;<\/p><h2>Another Workplace Truth<\/h2><blockquote><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Most People, Given the Same Information, Will Come Very Close to The Same Conclusions<\/strong>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8211; from Ray Overdorff&#8217;s <strong>6 Truths of the Workplace<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote><p style=\"text-align: left;\">If this is so true, why doesn&#8217;t everyone\u00a0always agree? \u00a0The reality is that we all have\u00a0different backgrounds and experiences. \u00a0Different conditioning. Different prejudices. And even when we&#8217;re speaking the same language, words can mean different things to different people at different times. When you ASSUME (remember the acronym?) that everyone has the same information, what happens to your communication quality and overall functionality of the audience for your messages?<\/p><h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">What&#8217;s a Leader to Do?<\/h2><p style=\"text-align: left;\">First, stop assuming that we all have the same understanding of the information. Then, be accountable. It is a leader&#8217;s responsibility to create a climate for functional\u00a0communication.
