you&#8217;re going to be critical of someone else and hold that person accountable, you first need to be critical of your role in this process. \u00a0How well have you facilitated clarity for your <em>accountability partners<\/em>? \u00a0Let&#8217;s look deeper at the term:<i style=\"font-weight: bold;\"> accountability partner. \u00a0<\/i>It implies:<\/p><ul><li>That a partnership exists.<\/li><li>You have a mutual interest in getting things done that lead to a common goal or desired outcome.<\/li><li>Your discussions can and should have a tone of positive, possibility thinking vs. negative, win\/lose or lose\/lose<\/li><li>A need for constructive discussions of resource allocation<\/li><\/ul><p>What&#8217;s confrontational about any of these?\u00a0 What happens when you can an attitude adjustment.\u00a0 To help, review the definition.<\/p><blockquote><p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/p\/partnership.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>partnership<\/strong><\/a> is an arrangement in which two or more individuals share the profits and liabilities of a business venture.<\/p><\/blockquote><p>With a cop mindset, your assumption is your partner(s) don&#8217;t share the same desire to enjoy the benefits or don&#8217;t have the same level of engagement.\u00a0 For effective <strong><em>accountability conversations,<\/em> <\/strong>you have to to correct that assumption.\u00a0 Help all partners to keep their eyes on the prize.<\/p><p>Conflict can occur in a partnership whenever expectations are not met. \u00a0As with communication in general, the ideal environment is <strong><em>blame free<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Is is possible that your partner might let responsibilities fall through the cracks?\u00a0 Of course.\u00a0 When you have an up-front agreement for accountability as a partner, your conversations can focus on honoring that agreement and thereby avoid an adversarial
