<strong>manager<\/strong>, how will your conversations need to change?\u00a0\u00a0You will need to speak less of <em><strong>what <\/strong><\/em>needs to be done and <em><strong>how <\/strong><\/em>to do it.\u00a0 Instead, speak more about <em><strong>why<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: 0.9375em;\">In the words of acclaimed author and executive coach Marshall Goldsmith&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;What Got You Here, Won&#8217;t Get You There&#8221;<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"background-color: white; color: black;\">For managers who were promoted to leadership positions based on their expertise, speaking of <em><strong>what to do<\/strong> <\/em>and <em><strong>how to do it<\/strong><\/em> is a difficult habit to break.
