necessarily made some critical decisions in recent weeks.\u00a0 In the process, our vocabulary has evolved.\u00a0 They have us using unfamiliar words and phrases like <strong><em>pandemic<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>settle-in-place <\/em><\/strong>and <em><strong>social distancing<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p><p>I believe that the creation and popularization of these words and phrases proves once again that: <em>Haste make waste<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>Some of the language can be misleading, inaccurate or both.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><p>To help us cope, I offer some brief thoughts on the impact these terms.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57de8be elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"57de8be\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Pandemic<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The letters of this word create a <em>PANIC sandwich<\/em>;\u00a0 \u00a0PANdemIC.\u00a0 What are we supposed to do when faced with a pandemic?\u00a0 How do you not consider <em>panic<\/em> as an answer?\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><em>Urgency<\/em> <\/strong>and <strong><em>diligence<\/em> <\/strong>are more productive attitudes.\u00a0 Panic? I hate it. Using it is a concession I&#8217;m unwilling to make.\u00a0 \u00a0What we have is certainly <em><strong>new<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 And, our newly adapted behaviors need to become more habitual.\u00a0 But is is not permanent.\u00a0 I struggle to accept this as <em>normal<\/em>. So I prefer to call label this:<\/p><h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;The New Abnormal&#8221;<\/em><\/h4><p>When we come out of this and safely reach <em>the other side<\/em>, we can then reach a state of normalcy. That will be a <strong><em>New Normal<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a0b1395 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a0b1395\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Social Distancing <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2aede7f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2aede7f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Seinfeld sitcom gave us the terms: <strong><em>Close Talker<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Sidler<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Dated references, perhaps.\u00a0 But wonderful humorous examples of of behavior that&#8217;s even more unacceptable in our brave new world.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-35c1b76 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"35c1b76\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element I wish we did.\u00a0 Social Distancing implies that we need to distance ourselves socially.\u00a0 As social beings, we&#8217;re going to struggle with the connotations of the phrase; <strong><em>Social Distancing<\/em><\/strong>.
