One Day or Day One?

Day one- One Day Sign

Same Two Words. Different Order. Big Difference.

It’s amazing how simply reversing two words—One Day vs. Day One—can flip the script on your mindset. One implies delay. The other, action.

Day one- One Day Sign

Beyond the clever wordplay, I found this short video to be a compelling motivator. It’s a 9-minute wake-up call for procrastinators everywhere.

Speaking of Procrastination…

The TUIT Story

Decades ago, I was sitting in my office at our plastic manufacturing plant.  I received a phone call from a gentleman seeking to purchase some TUITs.  I politely told him I couldn’t help him.  But he persisted and insisted that I could.  I skeptically listened.  And he convinced me.

How?

Our company owned tooling for producing plastic tokens the size of a Silver Dollar.  I had listed tokens in a catalog for custom-imprinted merchandise. He saw the listing and knew that if we imprinted the word “TUIT” onto our token. We could be in the TUIT business.

Why?

My new prospective customer knew that if we imprinted the tokens with the word “TUIT”, we could fulfill his need.

He explained by asking me:

“Do you notice how many people say they’ll get a particular thing done when they get a round to it? That’s when you give them a TUIT.”

His advertiser wanted to encourage prospective clients to get started and stop procrastinating.

Get a TUIT and do it!

I don’t remember why, but I never closed that sale.  My prospective new customer took his TUIT business elsewhere.   And we never pursued the idea.  BUT, the story lives on. As does my current collection of round TUITs, as pictured.

The top TUIT in the photo came from Tim Creath decades ago. He is still with Northwestern Mutual.
So if you need his financial expertise, call Tim when you get around to it,  if not sooner.

Which unfinished idea is patiently waiting for your permission to begin?

Patience isn’t always a virtue.

Just Do It
